The AAA Board held a special meeting on 10 December to discuss the 2020 National Show. A number of location options were examined in detail with particular attention placed on budgets and logistics.
Canberra Exhibition Park was unable to offer the same pavilions as the 2019 show, making this location unviable. Bendigo Showgrounds and Melbourne Showgrounds were also analysed. Melbourne showgrounds offered opportunities to leverage off a craft exhibition being held in the vicinity over the same weekend and the location is perfect for members of the public to attend the show. The craft market presents a perfect opportunity to promote alpaca end product however trade stands and a craft competition will only be offered if they can be run at a cost neutral position.
The Board therefore would like to announce that the 2020 National Alpaca Show will be held at Melbourne showgrounds over the weekend 28-30 August 2020.
Paul Haslin has been appointed by the Board as convenor of the Nationals in 2020, with Lyn Dickson as co-convenor.
