More Info:
Each year many alpaca breeders make the trip to present their animals for judging. In the W.A. Alpaca industry there are four shows a year to exhibit animals and the Albany Show is the culmination of the showing year, so it is not to be missed.
Both Suri and Huacaya alpaca types and their fleeces will be on show with the judge Angela Preuss travelling from Victoria who will view the best Western Australia has got to offer.
Numbers are expected to reach 200 animals and 80 fleeces. So quite a spectacle for show goers to experience.
Fleece judging is done on the Thursday before the show but the public are welcome to watch animal judging on the Friday which culminates in Supreme Suri and Supreme Huacaya being awarded.
On the Saturday, there will be judging of best of colour of all blue ribbon animals and Parade of Champions. Also students from the Denmark Agricultural College will be showing their knowledge by taking part in a Junior Judging competition. Followed by a Junior Handlers competition for children from 6 years old to show how they can lead and handle an alpaca.
All in all don’t miss this opportunity to get to know these delightful animals. Who knows, next years show may see you proudly exhibiting your own alpaca.
